Position Overview
The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire a Security Therapy Aide IV for the Treatment and Detention Facility located in Rushville, Illinois to perform tasks pertaining to protection, security, therapy, and sanitation activities under conditions on an assigned shift/post for a 24/7 maximum security facility. Serves as working supervisor. As a member of a treatment team, participates in overall resident care and treatment including the most complex resident problems. Consults with supervisor and professional direct care staff on treatment, modifications of treatment plans, development, implementation and enforcement of policy and procedures. Coordinates the facility response to emergency situations. Interacts with residents to mediate disputes. Serves as the Administrator on Duty. Travels to transport residents to off-site activities.
Essential Functions
- Performs tasks pertaining to protection, security, therapy, and sanitation activities under conditions on an assigned shift/post for a 24/7 maximum security facility.
- Serves as working supervisor.
- Coordinates the facility response to emergency situations including notifying administrators outside of regular working hours.
- Interacts with residents to mediate disputes, redirect inappropriate behavior, explain rules and procedures and to support therapeutic, recreational, vocational, behavioral and/or safety plans.
- Conducts facility inspections for security, safety, and sanitation.
- Serves as the Administrator on Duty and maintains communication with the Administrator on Call. Serves as incident commander until relived by an administrator.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
- Requires two (2) years supervisory experience in security therapy work, including successful completion of an approved Security Therapy Aide Training Program or equivalent experience.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires possession of a Class A, B, C or D driver’s license to transport residents to off-site activities.
- Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
