The Cybersecurity Analyst will support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) in its mission to modernize applications, secure cloud environments, and maintain compliance across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and low‑code application ecosystems.
This role focuses on safeguarding NMFS enterprise cloud systems, supporting DevSecOps processes, enabling secure low‑code development, and ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity mandates.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Cloud Security & GCP Environment Protection
- Secure and optimize NMFS’s enterprise Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure, including data and applications.
- Implement real‑time monitoring, threat detection, and preventative security measures to guard against cyberattacks and data breaches.
- Enforce access control policies, including multi‑factor authentication, in compliance with the Executive Order on Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity.
- Ensure platform adherence to the Department of Commerce IT Security Program Policy and Minimum Implementation Standards.
Compliance & Governance
- Maintain compliance with federal cybersecurity requirements, including DOC, NOAA, and NMFS IT security regulations.
- Ensure all systems and deliverables meet Section 508 (WCAG 2.0 AA) accessibility standards.
- Develop and maintain security documentation including security plans, compliance reports, and audit artifacts.
DevSecOps & Cloud Operations
- Support the DevOps approach used to orchestrate cloud infrastructure and application operations.
- Integrate security into Agile and DevOps processes across cloud and application development teams.
- Lead or support automated testing, security validations, and pipeline hardening for cloud and low‑code applications.
Low‑Code & Application Security
- Support development teams building and enhancing low‑code applications (Appian or similar), including security reviews and risk assessment.
- Ensure secure configuration management, vulnerability mitigation, and compliance reporting for new and existing applications.
- Support AI/ML integration security, including model governance and data protection.
- Support data governance across data ingestion, data storage, data transformation, and orchestration activities.
- Support AI/ML security practices using Google’s Vertex AI and BigQuery ecosystems, including model validation and secure deployment.
Documentation & Reporting
- Provide cloud security documentation, compliance reporting, DevOps testing reports, and meeting summaries as required.
- Maintain auditable records and follow federal standards for documentation management and retention.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain NOAA Public Trust clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of cybersecurity or cloud security experience.
- Experience securing cloud platforms (GCP preferred).
- Experience with security compliance frameworks (FISMA, NIST, DOC/NOAA/NMFS security standards).
- Understanding of DevOps/DevSecOps methodologies.
- Experience in access control, MFA, and identity management.
- Proficiency in documenting security artifacts, reports, and compliance evidence.
- Strong understanding of data security, governance, and vulnerability management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supporting low‑code platforms (Appian, Mendix, Power Apps, etc.).
- Experience with AI/ML security, especially within Google Cloud’s Vertex AI.
- Experience in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Experience implementing automated testing frameworks in a DevOps environment.
