Description
The Logistics & Retail Assistant plays a key role in supporting daily campus life by ensuring smooth mail operations and delivering a welcoming retail experience in the School Store. This individual ensures that the campus community receives deliveries efficiently while supporting daily store operations, sales and inventory management of “Blair wear,” other branded products and academic supplies. This part-time position is non-exempt and reports to both the School Store Manager and the Mail & Package Coordinator.
Duties & responsibilities:
Logistics & package room (75%)
- Manage inbound deliveries by sorting, scanning, digitally logging and ensuring secure storage of incoming USPS, FedEx, UPS and DHL mail and packages;
- Provide friendly and efficient service to students, faculty and staff during package pickup.
- Help process outbound domestic and international shipping, including weighing and labeling.
- Assist in the annual setup, labeling and management of student, faculty and office mailboxes.
School Store & inventory (25%)
- Operate the Odin POS system to process sales and student bank cash withdrawals;
- Receive, tag and shelf new merchandise (books, apparel and supplies);
- Select, pack, ship and fulfill orders placed through the online School Store.
- Maintain a clean and organized storefront; ensure merchandise, apparel and gear are stocked by size and color.
- Assist in the production and distribution of student IDs/debit cards and employee IDs.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service;
- Basic math and POS/cash-handling ability;
- Ability to remain active for extended periods and safely lift, move and maneuver packages weighing up to 50 pounds (using provided equipment when necessary);
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;
- Attention to detail; and
- Willingness to provide flexible coverage during weekends, peak periods and special campus events.
Salary & other compensation:
Base pay range $17-19 per hour. Salary depends on numerous factors, including but not limited to education and experience.
