The Kokomo Rescue Mission is seeking an experienced and passionate Executive Director to lead a well established, Christ-centered nonprofit into its next season of growth and impact. Located in Kokomo, Indiana, a growing industrial city and farming community in north central Indiana, the Mission is approximately one hour north of Indianapolis. Founded in 1953, the Kokomo Rescue Mission has more than 70 years of history serving individuals and families that are homeless and hurting. Today, the organization operates with an annual budget exceeding $3.5 million, with approximately $1.8 million coming through direct community donations. This is a testament to the strong relationships and confidence the Mission has built throughout the community. The Mission operates three homeless shelters, serving men, women, and women with children. In 2025, the Mission provided an average of 326 meals each day and served an average of 122 overnight guests each night. The organization is also entering an exciting new chapter of community engagement. Its new Engagement Center expands the Mission’s reach beyond traditional shelter services by providing practical assistance, connecting individuals with community partners and resources, and offering showers and laundry facilities to the broader community. He or She oversees staff, fundraising efforts, and community relations while advocating for the Mission’s work and securing resources. Additionally, the Executive Director ensures compliance with regulations, manages crisis situations, and leads long-term strategic planning for the organization's growth and impact. *Core Competencies:* * Teamwork * Operations Management * Personnel Management * Spiritual Leadership * Financial Management * Development * Administrative Oversight *Primary Duties and Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):* *Administrative Duties:* * Responsible for the spiritual environment and growth of all Mission programs by approving the development of new programs as necessary to meet the needs of the community. * Evaluate current programs to see if they still are reaching the needs of the community. * Prepare for and attend Board of Director's meetings and executive committee meetings. * Carry out Mission policy; create the same in emergency situations where needed. * Recommend to the Board new or significant changes to ministries. * Attend skill and spiritual enrichment conferences and seminars that will benefit the Mission. *Operational Management:* * Have a comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of program, personnel, and budget administration necessary to the efficient operation of the entire organization. * Hire and terminate employees. Responsible for hiring the right people into leadership. * Responsible for the operation of administrative and departmental functions according to the Organizational Chart. * Meet with the Lead Team on a regular basis to maintain effective communication within the ministry. * Maintain continuous interface with leadership to insure proper and effective staffing in order to carry out the Mission’s purposes. * Administer evaluations for the staff that directly report to the Executive Director and maintain a salary review program. * Assess need and implement necessary staff education. * Preside over weekly staff meetings. *Public Relations Duties:* * Represent KRM through speaking engagements, conferences, church groups, service clubs, other community organizations, television, radio, and newspaper interviews. * Network with community leaders, businessmen, industrial executives, etc. * Cooperate with governmental and other private help organizations in assisting those in need. *Financial Duties:* * Be ultimately responsible for Mission finances. * Oversee the fundraising initiatives and campaigns of the organization. * Direct preparation of Annual Budget for Board approval. * Work with Staff in preparing the final operating budgets for approval by the Board of Directors and regularly monitor financial reports to see that the departments stay within the budget parameters. * Review monthly financial reports and be prepared to answer any questions that arise at Board meetings. * See that the Mission acknowledges all donations to the ministry with a receipt and thank you. *Education or Skill Set:* * Bachelor’s degree preferred in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, organizational leadership, social work, human services, ministry/theology, or a related field and/or minimum of 5 years of executive leadership experience in a related field. *Employment at Kokomo Rescue Mission:* * Must possess a personal faith in Jesus Christ and pursue growing that faith in community with other believers. * Must believe and adhere to the Kokomo Rescue Mission Doctrinal Statement and qualifications for employment outlined in the handbook.
