Description
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. Previous education, training, work, or life experiences which provide reasonable evidence of the successful performance of the various tasks listed; such evidence might typically be provided by a minimum of four (4) years of previous comprehensive warehouse and/or procurement experience.
- Valid Alaska Driver's License, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred, but not required, ability to obtain a forklift operator certification.
- Medium work: Exerting up to 20-50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10-20 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Establish and maintain effective, timely, professional, accurate and courteous communication and working relationships with internal and external customers, including Nutrition Service staff, District staff, school administrators, and other District Departments. Will be communicating frequently with Facilities and Purchasing in the maintenance and procurement of warehouse vehicles and equipment.
- Establishes, administers, and monitors centralized warehousing, and distribution system using current approved inventory systems. Responsible for centralized procurement of warehoused goods required. Ensures that both departments are receiving the maximum value of product ordered.
- For items that would require the services of the Purchasing Department, advises on and assists with the preparation of highly technical requests for proposals, contracts and bids including formal and in-formal quotes, including statement of work terms and conditions and evaluation criteria as well as the cost and price analysis of proposals.
- Performs contract administration, oversees staff that act as vendor liaison to ensure contract compliance. Analyzes information on vendor performance and other factors which may affect price, delivery, and quality of contracted goods.
- Maintains all vendor files, records, and contracts relevant to Warehouse. Oversees the entering departmental copies of vendor and product information into approved inventory software system.
- Oversees the determination of on-hand stock levels and generates information for reordering stock goods.
- Oversees the receiving and reconciliation of goods and invoices and determination of appropriate courses of action regarding products such as acceptance, refusal, storage, and shipment of items from Central Warehouse to school sites.
- Plans, schedules, and coordinates all purchases and deliveries to schools and events. Assigns the pickup and transport of supplies, food, mail and equipment. May on occasion transport hazardous material or gas
- Facilitates District surplus including coordination of transferring items between locations, maintaining items in the District Warehouse, and running public surplus sales.
- Ensures State and Federal regulations are met for OSHA, including coordinating with Central Kitchen Supervisor to ensure the HACCP Safety Plan for Central Kitchen and Department of Environmental Conservation food safety standards are being met during the storage and delivery of foods to school sites.
- Responsible for inventory control management and conducting Warehouse inventory spot checks and counting during semi-annual and/or annual reconciliation. Responsible for inventory tracking controls, reports, and records and resolution of inventory discrepancies
- Coordinates travels to Anchorage and/or other locations to replenish food stock and other related supplies.
- May occasionally operate district vehicles and equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.
- Ensures coolers, freezers, and entrances into Central Warehouse are properly secured and functioning.
- Supervises assigned staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring necessary training, and making hiring, disciplinary and termination recommendations.
- Manages and monitors applicable department discretionary funds within the budget
- Manages the coordination of training and advising of staff on proper procedures including material handling, safety standards, and documentation.
- Reviews and revises necessary forms, procedures, and documents as needed.
- Participates on assigned committees and meetings.
- Supervises programs such as but not limited to NS Vending Machines
- Performs additional related tasks as delegated by the Director of Nutrition Services
- Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of management and associates through written and verbal methods; must possess good reasoning skills, have a positive attitude, and be able to work both independently and in a team environment. Extensive demonstrated knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

FY27 Salary: $68,927 - $85,768 (for 260-day contract)
The Mat-Su Borough School District is an innovative, dynamic, and fast-paced work environment. By leading the warehouse team in collaboration with the nutrition services team, your warehouse and delivery expertise will be necessary to support our growing District. Your role in the Central Kitchen Warehouse and MSBSD District Warehouse focuses on supporting staff, schools, and students by providing food, supplies, and materials to schools.
Class Summary:
This position, under the direction of the Director of Nutrition Services, is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of the Central Kitchen Warehouse and District Warehouse. This position is required to follow and enforce all policies, regulations, services, health, and safety procedures of the MSBSD as well as maintain all State and Federal records. Must have knowledge of effective warehousing activities to include receiving, identifying, dispatching and assuring quality of goods. Must have knowledge of purchasing methods, procedures, policies, and techniques of specification writing. Ability to obtain Serve Safe certification for safe food and handling, warehouse procedures and OSHA rules for warehouse environment and power industrial vehicles.
